REAL ADDED VALUE

Luxury real estate company offers some free services for clients

Toma Partners Real Estate co-owner Mihai Toma and his siblings became accustomed to working together even as kids after their family immigrated to Portland from Romania. “We’d help my dad out in his mechanical contracting business,” Toma said, “and I folded newspapers with my brother’s and sister’s help two days a week.” So it was a natural progression for them to consider going into their own business together after they moved to Phoenix as teenagers and grew up here. In 2008, Toma, a luxury home builder, his brother Ben, a real estate broker and other family members discussed the possibility of opening their own boutique real estate company focusing on selling luxury homes. “We really wanted to do something together instead of letting our family splinter,” Mihai said. They founded Toma Partners Real Estate and the company began banking with National Bank of Arizona. “NB|AZ and our bankers, Greg Wessel and Ricardo Romero, took an interest in what we do and went out of their way to help us out,” Toma said. “They helped us get our first luxury listing and then gave us some of the properties the bank owned to list for sale as well.” He appreciates that NB|AZ “operates like a community bank but has the capacity to offer all of the services of a big bank.” Although his company was born in the midst of the Great Recession, Mihai notes it “was actually a good time to start this business because people were looking for added value in real estate transactions. And that’s what we offer. We provide free staging and create a beautiful full-color brochure for each luxury home that we list.” Today, Toma Partners Real Estate ranks among the top 20 real estate brokerages in the state. And Mihai wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else. “Phoenix is a wonderful place to live. You can’t beat an average temperature of 72 degrees and almost 365 days of sunshine every year.”
